Unexpected overloads can damage motors, gearboxes and valuable machine components within milliseconds. R+W Torque Limiter Couplings are designed to protect drive systems before costly failures occur. During normal operation they provide completely zero-backlash torque transmission, while instantly disconnecting the drivetrain when the preset torque limit is exceeded.

The couplings operate using a proven spring-ball detent mechanism. As soon as the transmitted torque exceeds the predefined release value, the driving and driven sides are mechanically disengaged in less than 5 milliseconds. This rapid response protects machine components from overload damage while minimizing downtime and repair costs. Thanks to their zero-backlash design, R+W torque limiters are perfectly suited for servo drives, robotics, automated production equipment and other highly dynamic motion control applications.
