Line Shafts

When rotating components are positioned several meters apart, conventional shaft arrangements often require intermediate bearings, additional alignment work and increased maintenance. R+W Line Shafts offer a cleaner, more efficient solution by mechanically synchronizing drive components over long distances while maintaining precise, backlash-free torque transmission.

Each line shaft combines a precision intermediate tube with application-specific end couplings, including metal bellows, elastomer, rigid or disc coupling designs. The product range covers torques from 5 to 25,000 Nm and standard lengths of up to 6 meters. With proper sizing, intermediate support bearings are often unnecessary, reducing installation time, simplifying machine design and lowering maintenance requirements. Intermediate tubes are available in steel, aluminum or lightweight CFRP to match the application's speed, stiffness and inertia requirements.

As the official Hungarian partner, BIBUS Kft. provides engineering support for selecting the optimum shaft length, tube material, coupling configuration and operating speed. We help design reliable synchronization systems that deliver long-term precision, maintenance-free operation and maximum machine performance.
